About the Hero Engine
It’s said that necessity is the mother of invention, and that’s
certainly true about our groundbreaking HeroEngine.
Available for limited license, HeroEngine is a proprietary software
system developed by Simutronics to build its upcoming 3D graphical MMORPG, Hero’s
Journey. The company needed a toolset that would allow 3D artists, level designers,
and coders to manipulate vast asset libraries in a multi-user, realtime configuration.
Employed by both the home office and remote developers, HeroEngine is both easy
to learn and fun to use.
In simple terms, our system allows developers to create and deploy
anything in a live environment. Assets, scripts, character manipulation, etc.
from multiple sources can be added to the same server simultaneously with instantaneous
and seamless updates. This completely collaborative development environment
empowers developers to bring unique gameplay elements to Hero’s Journey. Modular
systems can also be added to HeroEngine to handle subscriptions, account management,
billing, and back-office needs.
Work on HeroEngine began roughly six years ago when the concept
for Hero’s Journey was first conceived. Simutronics has a long and successful
history of employing off-site contractors (called "GameMasters") to develop
its games. It was imperative that they have tools that were easily learned and
easily installed on any mid- to high-end PC computer system. It was also imperative
that they build Hero’s Journey on the same servers used by the artists and developers
at headquarters. The result is a cutting-edge, customizable, and fully expandable
process for content creation, debugging, editing, and deployment.
HeroEngine is a turnkey solution to any game development setting
whether you’re building a brand new game or adding an expansion to an existing
one. GameMasters are able to utilize HeroEngine to immediately interact with
players, manipulate NPCs or other game objects, write or repair systems, or
create new 3D art in programs like AutoDesk 3ds Max or Maya and add them to
the game with a simple drag-and-drop.
There is simply nothing else like it in the industry today.
